[Photo| Courtesy]Due to the high number of indiscipline within the police service, the government intends to introduce a six month refresher course which will serve as a rehab to alcohol and drug abuse and enhance discipline in the service.The National Police Service, in a communication, said the indiscipline include cases such as drunk and disorderly policemen, abuse of drugs by junior and senior police officers, corrupt incompetent police officers, misuse of firearms by police officers and complaints by the public against police."The refresher course shall replace the constable development course CDC, NCO leadership course and senior supervisory course," read the communication in part, on Saturday.During the period of retraining, all NCOs and members of inspectorate affected will undergo a process of vetting which will recommend demotions in ranks."Officers who fail to change after the 6 months course shall finally be removed from the service. discipline in the service is paramount."
