Naivasha MP, John Kihagi said that the power deal will benefit the industries as it will help cut costs of electric transmission.

Speaking during the launch of TATA offices in Naivasha on Saturday, Kihagi said that the establishment of industrial parks in the area was already planned.

“We have already had talks with KENGEN and KENTRACO and we will offer cheaper and clean power. The government policy is to offer them clean energy and it has targeted to bring development in the area. The high expensive costs of electricity have been a huge setback to the establishment of the industries,” said Kihagi.

Kihagi cited that the launching of the 70 MW power plants by the president in October and its subsequent plant that is set to be launched in December has boosted the availability of cheaper power hence making it a huge attraction to investors.

Kihagi noted that they had already received proposals from the industries seeking to lease land from KENGEN.

“The industrial parks already have many targeted industries. We already have enough manpower and we are looking forward to this huge development in the area,” he added.
