According to the Gesonso police boss, Charles Moigwa, the infant was wrapped in a paper bag and dumped on the roadside in the market, and so far they have launched investigations into the incident.

"No arrests have been made so far though we believe the body must have been abandoned there by the mother who was unable to take care of the child, or was killed and dumped at the road side and we believe we will get the suspect," said Moigwa.

According to the man who discovered the body at the road side, Eric Nyamari, there was foul smell as if something was rotting by the roadside, of which he sought to know what it was.

When he tried to look for the source of the stench he realised that it was a child put in a paper bag and dumped by the roadside.

“We fully condemn the act and we would like the area residents to help the police in getting the suspects so that they can face the law,” said Nyamari.
