After reports of Influenza type A and B outbreak in Nakuru County were confirmed, Health Executive Dr Kabii Mungai has stated that the situation is completely under control.

In a press address on Wednesday, Mungai said the county government has set up an isolation ward at Nakuru Level Five Hospital where confirmed influenza cases are being treated.

“We have handled the situation and have set up an isolation ward and Nakuru level Five Hospital where we have 39 people being treated,” he said.

“We are also in the process of setting up isolation wards in other health facilities within the county so that the situation can be well handled with convenience,” he said.

Those affected by Influenza are mainly children from 0-5 years.

The county governments in partnership with national government have set up a disease surveillance system to detect and respond promptly to any outbreak case.

In addition, the county government will conduct a vaccination drive for all children aged below five years.
