A Nakuru MCA has criticize Infotrak, and warned that the survey body has been paid to demonstrate that president Uhuru Kenyatta can not win if elections were held today March 28, 2016, and that a re-run would be held between Uhuru and CORD principal Raila Odinga.
Speaking to this writer on Monday, Peter Nderitu Mwangi of Bahati ward said he has never met such a body to interview him, and wondered where it gets it's figures.
“We know very well that this country has 42 million people. Results from a survey conducted from about 2,000 people would never represent the views 0f 40 million people. Info track has been paid by political kingpins, to show that president Uhuru’s popularity has dropped in a way that he cannot win with 50+1 vote as required by the constitution. I can’t believe them, president Uhuru will definitely win if we held elections today” Nderitu said.
Infotrack survey released on Sunday shows that Uhuru is the most popular with 45 per cent, followed by opposition leader Raila Odinga who has 28 per cent while Cord co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka is third at a distant with 2.5 per cent.
“In October last year, Uhuru’s popularity dropped from 60% to 34%. It has now increased to 45%. Raila’s popularity jumped from 19% in 2014 to 29% in 2015 and has remained the same in March,” Infotrak chief executive Angela Ambitho said.
However, Nderitu also claimed that the survey was meant to portray Raila as the most popular among his Cord co-principals; Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper) and Ford Kenya's Moses Wetangula, conveying a strong message that if Cord is to win come the 2017 general election, then Odinga has to be the flag bearer.
“We would want him (Raila) to support Kalonzo or Weta this time round,” he said.
