AFC Leopards has said that the proposed withdrawal by Sportpesa is not a major concern.
According to the club, they have already started receiving proposals from potential sponsors in the event SportPesa make good their threat.
Last week, SportPesa announced the withdrawal of all their sponsorship agreements in Kenya from next year, estimated to be worth Sh1.2 billion annually.
This is after the government slapped a 35 percent tax raise on betting firms.
The sponsorships include a Sh45 million annual deal with AFC Leopards. The mood within Ingwe’s management is that of wait and see.
“SportPesa have not officially informed us about their withdrawal. We await the notice and then will discuss further. “For now however, we have received several silent proposals from other potential sponsors in the event they pull out. Including from other betting companies,” a Leopards official explained.
