KPL giants AFC Leopards are keen on emerging winners when they meet Vihiga United in their GOtv Shield Cup semifinal clash at Afraha on Sunday.
With the tournament being the only realistic source of silverware for the den this season, Leopards are putting all efforts in preparation for the tie against the NSL leaders who beat KPL defending champions Tusker 2-0 in the quarterfinal match at Nyayo Stadium.
But coming from a 2-0 convincing win against Thika United, Ingwe coach Robert Matano says they are motivated for the clash.
“It was an important win for us and we believe it shall motivate us to a top eight finish. As for Sunday’s match, we will not underrate our opponents simply because they are in the lower league. It is an important match,” he said.
Ingwe last bagged the Shield in 2013 after beating arch-rivals Gor Mahia 1-0 in a match played at the Nyayo Stadium.
