Newly initiated boys in Kiambu County have been asked to remain obedient, especially to their elders, and behave responsibly now that they have become ‘men’.
This appeal was made on Friday by Kiambu County Minister of Sports and Youths Machel Waikenda, who was speaking during a meeting with the county MCAs in Kiambu town.
“I would like to advise all the new initiates that they need to be extra careful when selecting friends now that they have become men,” said Waikenda.
“A wise man once said that if I want to understand someone, I just need to know their friends. It is good that you have passed this stage but it is equally important to think about your futures,” he added.
He advised the youngsters to be wary of misleading friends, urging them to be careful with whom they associate with.
The Minister further lauded the President, for signing the controversial Security Bill into law.
“I thank our Jubilee MPs for defeating all odds to pass the bill in a chaotic Parliament. Now that it is a law, we can be sure of our security,” said Waikenda.
He promised Kiambu youths better services come next year.
