Kiamaina chief Peter Kariuki has urged initiates to portray a positive image in society and to adhere elderly advice.

Speaking on Tuesday at Kiamaina shopping center during the release of more than 100 initiates who underwent a rite of passage from boyhood to manhood, Kariuki said that the transition marks an important calendar in one’s life.

“Now you are men, our future leaders, who are entitled to take the societal responsibilities. It is up to you to reflect your stand in societal dimensions,” said Kariuki.

The chief urged the initiates to shun outdated cultural practices like involvement of reckless sex and early marriages.

“Now that you are men does not guarantee you to indulge in silly sex behaviour or looking for wives to marry. You still have a long way to go,” said Kariuki.

The administrator warned the initiates the dangers of embracing outdated cultural practices.

“Retrogressive cultural practices should not be entertained in modern society and you should focus your energy in your future life,” advised Kariuki.

The Kiamaina Hope Church Ministries in conjunction with APHIA Plus sponsored the male circumcision exercise where more than 100 boys were 'cut'.

Kariuki added, “The advice offered to you by health officers and leaders will help you in determining your future.”
