Juja's Witeithie slum and Mazingira Initiative have started a campaign to sensitise residents on the importance of keeping the drainage system clean.
Witeithie Member of County Assembly (MCA), Peter Muiruri, said that the group has before dealt with disposal of polythene bags and food waste.
Muiruri lamented that some of the residential plots do not have drainage system, thus spilling water in the road making it dangerous for pedestrians and motorists.
“Our aim is to make sure that all plots in Witeithie has been served with proper drainage system. We will also ensure that all drainage system are clean to avoid blocking,” said Muiruri.
He revealed that Juja water and Sewerage Company has started issuing threats of cutting off water to residents who does not observe cleanliness.
“That is another reason why we started this campaign to make sure that residents are not cut off from the water supply,” notes Muiruri.
Muiruri directed all plots in the area to have an outlet for spilled water.
He said that water just stagnates outside some residence hence providing a suitable breeding atmosphere for mosquitoes.
