Police at Naivasha maximum prison have placed a prisoner on a 24-hour surveillance after he attempted to attack a fellow inmate.

Patrick Mwenda, officer in charge at the facility, said the inmate is a hardcore criminal with a scary history.

"The prisoner's past history is worse but we will not allow him to attack and injure others in the facility," said Mwenda.

The officer said the inmate has been attacking other inmates at the facility who do not report to the officers for action.

"In 2003, the inmate attacked a prison officer leading to the officer's hospitalization," he added.

He urged other prisoners to report any bad behavior from inmates for a disciplinary action to be taken.
