Inmates at the Naivasha Maximum Prison broke into song and dance following the release of the KCPE results.

Two students managed to get 350 marks and above. Students who got between 300 and 349 were eleven while those who got between 250 and 299 were eleven. There were five absent students

Esther Wanjiru Wamaitha was the top student with 394 marks.

“I am grateful to God and to my teachers who helped me read and pass my examinations. I do not take this for granted. It is the hand of God,” she added.

She attributed her success to discipline, dedication and hard work.

“All our efforts were not in vain,” she added

Kobe Stephen, who came in second, scored 363 marks.

“Despite our lack of proper reading and writing materials, we managed to pass our examinations. This proves that we are able to perform better if we are given the right environment,” he added.

While congratulating the inmates, Officer-in-Charge of the facility Patrick Mwenda said that there is great potential in the inmates.

“Inmates are very sharp and they have expressed their desire to change and become important members of the society. All they need is a second chance. Many aspire to be lawyers, doctors, professors and even magistrates. We hope to nurture these dreams to a reality,” he added.
