In an event held on Wednesday night, the Royal Media Services-owned station scooped five awards during the second annual fete hosted by the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA-K).

Inooro FM was the only station which broadcasts in Gikuyu language that was rewarded for demonstrating excellence in the services it offers.

Kameme FM, which also broadcasts in Gikuyu, did not feature anywhere in the Kuza Awards which was started last year to motivate broadcasters to strive for quality services as well as compliance with the regulatory requirements.

The station which is owned by Mediamax Network, a company associated with President Uhuru Kenyatta, about six years ago raided Inooro, poaching popular presenters among them comedian Machang'i, Peninnah Muthoni Mbugua (PMsquared) and Njogu wa Njoroge, who later left for Gukena FM.

Other stations which broadcast in Gikuyu include Coro FM, Njata FM, Gukena FM, Rware FM and Kigoocho FM.

Below is the list of the awards Inooro FM scooped.

1. Impact on Agriculture Award - 1st Runners Up
