Abdi attributed the development to cooperation between police officers and members of the public.

The county commissioner also said the newly acquired patrol vehicles helped reduce criminal cases.

"In 2013 we had 3,450 reported criminal cases, 2014- 2,400, 2015 -1600 while 2016 we have only received 1,200. This shows a 70 percent decrease," he said.

He said 50 percent of the cases were assaults, while the rest included alcohol, general stealing and defilement.

Speaking to journalist in Eldoret town on Monday, Abdi said their aim is to bring peace and ensure gangsters don't terrorize wananchi.

"We will work round the clock to ensure that there is no insecurity case reported. Police should ensure they work without being followed and anyone who will be found working with criminals will be shown the door," he added.

He however warned wananchi against demotivating police officers by always condemning them and yet they expect them to offer their assistance.

"Sometimes we need to applaud our officers for work well done. This will motivate them to work even better," he added.
