Meshack Omollo a third year student pursuing a bachelors degree in Public Health at Maseno University was on Wednesday attacked by three armed robbers at around 11:30 pm at his place of residence outside the varsity premises.
Speaking to a Hivisasa writer, Omollo said that he was attacked at his place of residence by robbers who claimed that they were Police officers.
He narrated that he opened for the men who claimed to be police officers but was astonished when he met three robbers armed with pangas.
The three robbers attacked the student leaving him in a critical condition before stealing some of his belongings. The student was rushed to the Institution's hospital where he was admitted.
The incidence took place at Joyland Hostels located a few miles away from the University.
Students from the Institution bitterly condemned the attack and asked the administration to assure them of maximum security in and outside the University.
The administration responded through the Students Organization Vice Chair, Faith Shitinyu:
"Good morning comrades. I have received a lot of concerns and complaints concerning the insecurity issue with the recent one that occurred yesterday night. My office is working tirelessly with the concerned authorities to ensure we have a secure environment. Always remember one thing, security starts with you. Thank you," she posted.
