Football Kenya Federation (FKF) chairman Nick Mwendwa has intimated how the federation intends to go about promoting and relegating teams for the 2018 season.
Speaking to the press from the federation's headquarters in Nairobi on Thursday, the chairman revealed that two bottom teams in the KPL for the season will be axed and will be replaced by the first two teams from Nationwide Superleague (NSL).
The team that will be third from bottom in the top tier league will have to square it out in a playoff with the team that will be placed third in the nationwide league.
"We have written to KPL to remind them that the promotion will be two teams going up and a playoff", Mwendwa said.
As it stands now, Muhoroni Youth are certainly on their way out while Western Stima, Thika United and Mathare United are still hanging on to the little hope left and will be praying for either of them to slip in the last two matches of the season.
In the Nationwide Super League, Ushuru who are currently on top could be on their way back to the league after a one-year hiatus while Vihiga United and Wazito Fc are embroiled in the tussle for position two.
Vihiga currently occupies the hot seat albeit on goal differences.
