The August 8 Garissa Township parliamentary contest was indeed a battle of titans with national profiles.
One was a House Majority leader while the other was a former speaker, a dynamic that added a dash of intrigue to what promised to be a mouth-watering contest.
When the results were announced, it was the incumbent Aden Duale who carried the day in what proved to be a closely-fought battle.
Farah Maalim, in the wake of the declaration of Duale as the victor, made public his intention to file a petition challenging his opponents win.
He argued that the IEBC staff overseeing the elections were partisan and therefore favoured Duale.
The task was now on him to prove that allegation before a court of law.
That task has proven has proven to be too heavy for him as the court hearing the case ruled that he could not prove his allegations beyond any reasonable doubt, a failure that has led the court to uphold Duale's win.
What's more, the court has slapped him with a 6 million shillings.
