The education ministry is coordinating with stake holders in the education sector to ensure credibility and integrity in the KCPE and KCSE exams ,CSFred Matiang'i said.

Matiang'i has said that they are engaging with ICT CS Joe Mucheru to ensure smooth flow during exam period.

The exams comes at a critical time when the country is heading to the repeat presidential election on October 26.

However, slight changes will be adopted from those adopted to curb cheating in the 2016 examination and this include examination answer sheets will be having names of candidates imprinted on them, something new in the Kenyan history.

The directors of education in the sub -counties will be the custodians of the keys to the examination containers that will be used to safeguard materials.

They will only be authorized to open them during distribution under strict supervision.

The ICT ministry shall oversee the use of computer programme known Aa the Item Difficult Profile that will be used on answer examination sheets that will be scanned with an optical mark reader to detect collusion.

School heads and teachers seeking to be officials during the examination period will required to get full approval from TSC county director while deputy head teachers will be required to remain in the school to oversee examination administration.

"We don't want a situation where the election interferes with exams.we need to know who is involved in the poll so that no confusion if they are required to administer examination," Matiangi said.

Other proposals demand for tough penalties for cheating, including but not limited to a 10 year jail term or 2billion shillings or both for revealing examination contents.
