Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua have remained political rivals for years.
The two leaders fell out immediately after the 2013 general elections.
Mutua after his election as the Machakos Governor in 2013, accused Kalonzo of micromanaging the Wiper party affairs.
He on several occasions claimed that a few people were running the party's affairs when it had several leaders.
In 2015, Mutua decided to launch his own political outfit, Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement on whose ticket he defended his seat in the last general elections.
The governor opted to back President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto during the 2017 general election after his rival Kalonzo joined forces with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga as they sought to ascend to power.
Mutua later hinted at contesting for the nation’s top seat in 2022 polls.
The dream to replace Kenyatta was dealt a major blow after the Court of Appeal nullified his win on Friday.
Mutua has, however, maintained that he will go for the seat when that time comes.
His rival, the former Kathaini MP Wavinya Ndeti has promised him a run for his money if they go back to the electorate.
Ndeti has exuded confidence that she will defeat Mutua when a by-election is conducted for the Machakos gubernatorial seat.
