The county government of Uasin Gishu has started the process of inspecting premises that applied for licenses to sell alcoholic drinks.
The process is being done by a committee that comprises of the county and national government officials.
According to the board's director Silas Boit, the inspection is aimed at ensuring only premises that adhere to the set laws and regulations are licensed.
Speaking in Eldoret town on Wednesday, Boit said about 1,000 premises applied for the alcoholic drinks licenses.
"If all of them meet the minimum requirements that we have set then they will be given the licenses, Boit noted.
"Once the inspection process is complete, the committee will sit and scrutinize the findings before licenses are issued to the qualified businesses," he added.
Among key considerations for licensing premises engaged in alcohol, sell include nearness to a learning institution and adherence to public health act.
