The office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has also been urged to immediately proceed to prosecute those held responsible to the extent of the law.

A group of activists on Monday condemned an act where a lady was undressed for allegedly dressing inappropriately, an incidence that has caused a public outcry from all over the country.

The ‘Kilimani Mums’ activists group, which demonstrated against violence against women, said that recent public stripping of women and assault of innocent women in Kenya is the testament to the growing impunity and disregard of human rights.

A report by the group shows that such attacks which seems to be on rise do not only offend our constitution, but are also morally offensive and not only serve as ridicule this great nation.

“As concerned men and women, we stand in solidarity with all our survivors of gender based violence and call on all peace loving Kenyans to join us in breaking the silence around this shameful pandemic. Gender based violence affects everybody and if left to continue gaining momentum will effectively deny us healthy relationships and reduce productivity in society,” the report stated.

Speaking during their demonstration campaign “My dress my choice”, the group said that they want the relevant arms of the government together with chief justice to consider gender based violence as a cancer in our society and proceed to set special courts to prosecute cases of gender based violence.
