The County Government of Uasin Gishu has allocated 10 acres of land to the Kenya Water Institute (KEWI) for the establishment of a campus.

Governor Jackson Mandago hosted the institution's chairman  Benjamin Muema, who was paying a courtesy visit on Thursday.During the meeting, Governor Mandago attested that the agreement greatly aligns to the county's development plan which has water and conservation as among priority."My Government has prioritized water and conservation as among pillars in development agenda this year. The coming of this training institution works to help us achieve this," said Mandago."The environment is facing challenges on daily basis. There is need to teach the public on avenues that will see environment conservation and well utilisation of water," he added.The county boss said the North Rift region will be a beneficiary as the region did not have a campus as Kisumu and headquaters in Nairobi were the only representations.On his part the chairman of KEWI governing council Benjamin Muema thanked the county government for the provision of land.Recently Uasin Gishu signed an MoU with the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC) where the institute will establish its first campus outside Nairobi.Last year, Governor Mandago proposed to the National Industrial Training Institute (NITA) and Kenya Pipeline to establish campuses in Eldoret.Kenya Pipeline has a petroleum institute in Naivasha's Morendat.
