The county government of Kisumu is on the spot for failing to improve the entertainment industry within the county.
Young artistes in Kisumu through their coordinator Felix Nyabira on Thursday morning at the Kisumu Social Hall called upon Governor Jack Ranguma to allocate funds in ensuring the industry is properly instituted and seeing talents are properly naturtured.
The ambitious youths accused the Kisumu County leadership of putting aside their interests leaving them lacking proper institutionalization of the industry which they are confident has the potential of increasing county fortunes and creating employment.
“We recognize the fact that the county government is out to build a talent academy and also to promote talents. But something needs to be done so fast as empty promises only kill the spirit of most talented youth," said Nyabira.
According to him, most of the young groupings of the youth who formed talent groups lacked basic items. He adds that they also require to be marketed frequently by the county government to create more activities that would give them a platform to be recognised.
A youth representative from Migosi, Beatrice Kate, concurred with their sentiments saying most of the them had talent but lacked vital linkages while calling upon the county government to allocate funds that will help empower them.
