A four-day Integration of CIDP II Workshop was on Wednesday officially opened at Voi Wildlife Lodge.
The workshop saw all CECs, CCOs, Directors and representative experts from various development partners in Taita Taveta County converge to focus on the development of the 2nd Generation of the CIDP II (2018-2022).
"We have found generous partners in the Ministry of Devolution and Planning, United Nations Development Programme Devolution Programme, Council of Governors, Action Aid, World Vision, Red Cross and others who have provided technical experts to assist in integrating my promises to the people contained in my Manifesto as well as cross-cutting issues such as Disaster Management, Gender Mainstreaming, Climate Change and the Sustainable Development Goals," disclosed Governor Granton Samboja who opened the workshop.
He noted that such show of support could only mean that the county must go an extra mile in developing a document that is actionable and not one destined to gather dust on a shelf somewhere.
Samboja said his government was focused on bringing real, long-lasting and positively impactful change to the citizens of Taita Taveta County.
"This can only be possible through deliberate planning, organized implementation and intentional monitoring and evaluation."
He revealed that his vision for Taita Taveta was an industrious society benefitting from the sustainable exploitation of the natural resources bountiful in the county and through the creation of opportunities through responsible enterprise in agriculture, ranching, mining, tourism and other sectors.
"My vision is to have well educated, healthy and productive citizens contributing to the establishment of a prosperous society. We can only deliver this vision together as a united front in politics, in service delivery and at all levels of government," he added.
