Maseno University's Information and Computer Technology initiative has launched a partnership between the club and Intel Kenya at the Millenium Complex in Siriba Campus.
The event that attracted students and officials from Intel was aimed at providing a platform for IT lovers to put into practice knowledge gained in classrooms.
"We are having this partnership so we can gain experience in the IT. It is also to know what the world requires from us professionally," said the club chairperson, James Wangoi.
He added, “We are currently working on projects that aim at producing more user-friendly android apps and software.”
The MICT initiative started in 2014 but was registered this year in August with the student welfare and services director.
“Another goal for the partnership is to provide an online massive short course for students and for members passionate about IT,” said club secretary Lilian Kirito.
She added that they will have an activity next week that is aimed at connecting students to Eduroa, which is a free WI-FI service since many students have problems configuring their gadgets to get internet access.
The club has in the past partnered with Google, Firefox and the African Math initiative.
