Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Mating'i has come out to explain why the government withdrew anti-riot police officers from Raila Odinga's 'swearing-in' event.
Speaking in Wednesday, the CS stated the decision was reached following top intelligence.
The CS said that the government had learned of a well planned 'massacre' intended to implicate the police.
Mating'i said that the Massacre was to be fueled by live airing of the event on TV.
He further stated that TV stations will remain switched off for going against the directive to air the NASA event despite orders not to air the fete.
Switching off of TVs and withdrawal of police from Uhuru Park was after Government intelligence learnt had that there was planned "massacre" that would have been blamed on the police and propelled by live coverage,” said Matiang’i.
