Intense lobbying took center stage over the weekend as President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto embarked on forming a technical team to kick-start the process.

A section of political leaders from Kajiado county and many others have forced Uhuru and Ruto to work overtime in a bid to come up with a list of the cabinet secretaries.

Kajiado leaders want Uhuru to reserve the Interior and Coordination of National Government docket for the Maa community because they were loyal to him on 8 August and October 26.

However, Tharaka Nithi senator Kithure Kindiki has urged those lobbying for the position to do it in a clandestine manner by not involving the media.

“Not everyone will make it in the cabinet but those who will be left out will be given other jobs in parastatals or foreign envoys,” said Kindiki.

leaders from the Ameru community led by Tharaka Nithi governor Muthomi Njuki are also scrambling for a cabinet post claiming that the region has long been neglected when it comes to cabinet appointments despite their strong support for Jubilee.

The Abagusii community has also issued its list of demands saying they need more than one slot in the cabinet, currently Education CS Fred Matiang'i is the only son of the soil present in the team.
