The two leaders have intensified their campaigns in different parts of the county as they both seek the support of the people to clinch the seat in August.

The duo has been holding separate rallies in the region with the aim of consolidating support in the seven sub counties of the region.

Roba, who comes from the Rer Ali subclan has exuded confidence that he will floor Noor from Asore subclan. The two clans mentioned form the largest population of the region, which has given the two an advantage over the rest of the candidates in the race for governorship.

Roba, a Jubilee candidate, defied a decision of the Garre Council of Elders after it was suggested that all the current leaders leave power to pave way for new entrants in different posts.

Speaking during his rally in Takaba over the weekend, Roba called upon the residents to vote for him for the next term in order to complete the projects that he had started four years ago.

“I complete the transformation work I started.” He said his work is “out there for everyone to see”. On his part, Noor insists that he is the one to bring real development to the region if elected.
