Ruiru MP Esther Gathongo has urged traffic police officers to intensify crackdown on rogue motorists and bodaboda riders in order to curb road accidents.

Speaking at Kahawa Wendani in Ruiru on Friday, Ms Gathongo said that road accidents that are common during the December festive season will be curbed if rogue motorists are tamed.

Ms Gathongo said more Kenyans will be traversing the country to celebrate the festive season adding that their road safety must be taken care of.

She urged motorists to exercise caution while using the roads saying that it will help reduce the road accidents.

“We are urging traffic officers in Ruiru and other parts of the country to intensify crackdown on rogue motorists in order to reduce on accidents that are common this season,” she said.

The MP asked motorists and road users to follow the traffic rules to avoid things that easily cause accidents.

Ms Gathongo cautioned motorists against driving while under the influence of alcohol noting that it contributes largely to road accidents.

The Ruiru MP asked the traffic department to conduct road safety campaigns so as to educate road users on safety.

Ms Gathongo who had earlier attended a prayer session for motorists and all road users at the Kahawa Wendani aslo asked bodaboda riders in the constituency to adhere to traffic laws.
