Bondeni Slums residents in Nakuru County now want police to intensify their operations to curb the rising cases of insecurity in the area.
Speaking at Bondeni Shopping Centre, the angry residents claimed that the estate has become very insecure than before saying that only police could help save the situation.
They said that they are tired of being robbed of their belongings by ‘lazy young men’ who only believe in robbing instead of working hard to acquire their own and improve their livelihoods.
Bondeni resident Leonard Baraza and also a victim of robbery in the area said that going to the Shopping Centre past 7:30pm is a suicidal decision, since according to him, the suspected thugs are ever there from that time just waiting for people to pass by to steal from them.
Baraza claimed that a group of five men are terrorising residents not only at night but also in the morning hours.
“There is a group of a bout five men who have decided to terrorise residents of Bondeni and we urge police to take immediate action against them,” said Baraza.
He mentioned Kingdom Seekers Junction as the most dangerous place to pass by past 7pm.
Anne Nyambura a busineeswomen in the Centre reported that she was robbed of cash and other valuable items near St. Paul Primary School last night when heading home at around 8pm.
She said that she was attacked by a group of five men who threatened to rape her if she raised any alarm at the time they were stealing from her.
"They threatened to rape me if I raised alarm, they took my new phone, cash among other valuables including my son's new school uniform,” said Nyambura.
St. Paul Primary School is just a bout 100 meters from Bondeni Police Station.
