Nyaribari Masaba MP Elijah Moindi has urged security agencies in Kisii County to intensify security surveillance in the county.
Moindi pointed out slum areas and public places as the most vulnerable places.
He however, called on the intelligence officers to closely monitor activities of various religions and sects in the county to ensure criminal elements do not use such places of worship to either plan or execute terror attacks.
Addressing journalists in Kisii town, the lawmaker asked residents to work closely with the security agencies.
“We need to be vigilant as Kenyans and ensure we report on any suspicious characters in our midst. As a country we are not safe from terror threats and attacks, based on what has been witnessed in Garissa University College,” said Moindi.
He also called for intensified security patrols around all learning institutions and social places, which he said were the soft spots for the terror attacks.
The MP further called on the Government to re-energize the Nyumba Kumi initiative on the ground as part of the efficient intelligence gathering mechanism to identify suspicious people who could be hiding.
