Addressing youth in Athi River town, the Rescue Souls Foundation programme manager, Beatrice Brunker, said inter-marriages were the only sure way of bringing Kenyans together.

Brunker complained of increasing levels of tribalism in the country that has led to the polarisation of communities, posing potential security challenges in Kenya.

She said most of Kenyans felt insecure in certain regions of the country where they did not have their origins from.

“National cohesion and integration can easily be achieved when young people in colleges, universities and places of work come together and inter-marry,” Brunker said.

She said Kenya would be a good model to other countries if everyone was able to mingle, travel, work and live freely in all corners of the country without being bothered by their tribal backgrounds and communities.

According to Brunker, attainment of national cohesion and integration was a duty of the citizens and should not be left as a preserve of the government alone.
