Kisii County Governor James Ongwae has confirmed there would be an Interdenominational prayer service on Monday at Gusii Stadium for the fallen students of the Garissa University terrorist attack.

Speaking to the press in his office on Sunday morning, Ongwae said he will give Shs100,000 to each of the bereaved families, while the survivors would get Shs10,000 each as subsistence allowance, and will facilitate in transporting of the bodies from Nairobi to Kisii.

 Earlier on Ongwae had promised to give Shs50,000 to each of the families that lost their kins and Shs10,000 to survivors.

 He also asked well wishers to give their donations to the affected families through the Garissa Benovelent Fund, in the tent pitched outside his Kisii office.

"We will give Shs100,000 to each of the 12 bereaved families and Shs10,000 per survivor in the Garissa massacre. We have provided four buses to transport bodies from Chiromo mortuary on Monday morning to Kisii for the prayer service," said Ongwae. 

He noted that they would coordinate with the Ministry of Education to ensure the county’s 32 students who escaped from the Garissa University attack are absorbed in different campuses.
