Elachi is also among vocal female politicians and a defender of human rights.

The Nairobi Assembly speaker joined politics in 2002 and has risen from humble backgrounds to where she is today.

1. From Kakamega county

She was born in 1973 and raised up in Kakamega county, the famous Western region.

2. Schooling 

She did her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) at the Moi Girls High School, Vokoli in Kakamega county.

3. Graduate

She is a graduate of Africa Nazerene University and holds a Bachelor and Masters Degree in Peace and Security studies.

4. Married 

The Nairobi Assembly speaker is married and has nine (9) children.

5. inspiration

She was inspired to join politics by the late Cabinet Minister John Michuki and former Chief Justice Dr Willy Mutunga.

6. Youth leader Elachi once served as a youth leader at the St Joseph Parish in Kangemi, Nairobi.

7. Nominated senator She was nominated senator by Jubilee Party in 2013 and served as senate Majority Chief Whip.

She is a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto.

8. Dagorreti North seat

She unsuccessfully contested for the Dagorreti North parliamentary seat in last year's (2017) general election.

Elachi was however elected as Nairobi County Assembly speaker on September 6, 2017, replacing Alex Ole Magelo.

According to political pundits, Elachi will play a pivitol role in the 2022 succession politics.
