Former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama's ex-wife, Agness Kavindu is not new when it comes to Machakos political circles.

Kavindu, vying on Jubilee party ticket unsuccessfully contested for the Machakos Women rep seat in last year's (2017) general election.

The former Machakos senator's estranged wife made a surprise bid for the woman's rep seat but she alongside other contenders lost to Joyce Kamene of Wiper Party in the August 8, 2017, general election.

Kavindu had promised to spearhead youth, women, and persons living with disabilities empowerment if she was to be elected.

Here are interesting things you didn't know about Agness Kavindu.

1. Married and twice divorced Muthama Former senator, Johnson Muthama married Kavindu as his first wife in 1978.

In 1983, Kavindu divorced Muthama over alleged cruelty from the former senator.

2. Re-married in 1996

Former senator Muthama reconciled and re-married Kavindu in 1996.

However, their marriage did not last long as the divorced again.

3. Contested for Machakos women rep seat - 2017

Kavindu vying on Jubilee party ticket unsuccessfully vied for the Machakos women rep seat in last year's (2017) general election.

She emerged third in the hotly contested the general election.

The seat was won by Joyce Kamene of Wiper Party.

4. Evangelist 

A staunch Christian and a member of the Kyemutheke AIC church, Kavindu is also an evangelist.

She does her evangelical work in her hometown of Mua, Machakos.

In a series of interview's, Muthama has often denied claims that Kavindu was once his wife.

With the 2022 politics now taking center stage, Kavindu is among Ukambani new political comers likely to shape the regional politics.
