Cabinet Secretary for Internal Security and Coordination of National Government Joseph Nkaissery has assured Kenyans that his ministry is working with Francis Ole Kaparo led National Cohesion and Integration Commission to ensure that those propagating hate speech are held accountable.
He said that his ministry will use all machinery at its disposal to beef up security to ensure peace and tranquility prevails during the campaigns and August 2017 election period.
Nkaissery cautioned politicians against using the campaign period to incite the electorate for their own selfish political interests saying anyone found culpable will be held accountable.
This comes as the campaign temperatures continue to flare and politicians using any possible means to discredit their opponents.
Nkaissery said the government will not hesitate to prosecute politicians who will peddle hatred among Kenyans. Hate speech has been singled out as a major cause of the 2007/2008 post-election violence.
Nkaissery assured Kenyans that his ministry will leave nothing to chance in security related matters.
