A survey released by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission on Tuesday shows that the Interior ministry is the most corrupt ministry in Kenya.

The survey, which was conducted from August 23 to October 23, 2015 in 46 counties, shows that 40.3 per cent of the participants believed the Interior ministry is the most corrupt, followed by Health at 14.3 per cent and Lands at 11.3 per cent.

In the wake of many corruption cases in Kenya, it is not surprising that 62.6 per cent perceive that corruption is as a result of greed.

It is indeed unfortunate that 18 per cent believed that no action would be taken if they reported cases of corruption, while 31 per cent said they did not know to whom or where they would report the incidents.

According to the EACC survey, people paid bribes mostly for medical attention, looking for national IDs and birth certificates.

The report which was released at the Kenya International Convention Centre now recommends that to deal with causes and effects of corruption, it is important for elected leaders and officials to exhibit intentions of fighting the vice.
