The Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho has declared war on second-generation alcohol promising that they will arrest and prosecute even top government officials who are found involved in the business.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen tv on Monday 5th March 2018, the PS called upon all arms of government to be in synchrony to fight the war against illicit brew.
PS Karanja Kibicho stated, "The choice I have to make is a moral one, to ensure illicit brews do not destroy the future of our youth."
"We are also checking on the kind of alcoholic drinks we get from neighboring countries to see if they meet our standards," added the PS.
He warned those who own liquor outlet within an area that is 300m from a school, stating they shall close down such businesses.
He came to the defense of the claims that they are being held hostage by business barons by explaining, "It is unfair to claim that government officials have been held hostage by so-called ‘big guns’ in the illicit drug business."
"We have the law on our side, and we are going after big names now, those considered 'untouchable'." concluded the interior PS.
