Although considered as an opposition stronghold, internal wrangles among NASA affiliates could dwindle Raila Odinga’s chances to scoop votes from Kisii County.
Having tasked to chair the campaigns, Governor James Ongwae is facing an uphill task to unite opponents competing in other seats and the move has made it difficult for the team to hold joint campaigns.
Recently, Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka threatened to move out of presidential campaign team following allegations propelled by ODM leaders that he is supporting Jubilee.
“Some ODM officials are making NASA affiliates like Ford Kenya to look like mere flower girls. We are in the coalition on merit and they must respect us,” said Onyonka, who also doubles as Deputy Party leader of Ford Kenya.
In his recent tour at Suneka however, Ongwae maintained that the campaign team was intact and that ODM had agreed to first popularize its candidates.
“This is an internal friendly match and as ODM, we thought it wise to popularize our candidates first. There is nothing much to worry,” he said.
Similar scenario is replicated in the neighboring Nyamira County with ODM Treasurer Timothy Bosire said to struggle in his bid to unite the NASA team from the region.
