Barely a week after Kenya’s opposition leader Raila Odinga maintained that he will be sworn-in on December 12th, various international media houses have given an insight on the subject.

Although his ‘inauguration’ may not be constitutionally supported and with a number powerful nations having recognized President Uhuru Kenyatta’s victory, Odinga’s move is certainty not something can be ignored.

Britain’s Independent said: “Such a move will deepen divisions opened by extended election season in Kenya, a Western ally in the volatile region.”

Daily Mail on its part reported: “Kenya’s president sworn in, rival Odinga promises own inauguration,” adding that the move by Odinga may yet again throw international community in a ‘precarious’ position given their superficial understanding of the Kenyan problem.

America’s Washington Post narrated how Odinga’s supporters clashed with police before chanting anti-Uhuru Kenyatta songs.

“The government had declared the rally illegal and police clashed with Odinga’s supporters. A number of them chanted anti-Uhuru slogans when Odinga insisted he will be sworn in,” said the paper.

For the last two months, supporters of Odinga, some of them visibly radicalized, have insisted that they will not tire until he is sworn as president.
