Kianda said that some locals and political aspirants are using social media to fuel hatred as the country gears up to the August 8 polls.
The Commissioner revealed that police are investigating some social media pages which he claimed are being used by some rogue politicians to to incite locals.
“We are not going to tolerate politicians and locals who use social media to preach hatred especially this campaigning and electioneering period,” he said as quoted by the Star.
Kianda said that the county security officials are working closely with other state agencies to tame hate mongers who hide behind the internet to incite violence.
He also warned rogue politicians using ‘dirty’ campaign tactics to attack opponents saying they too will not be spared.
The County Commissioner asked locals especially youths to remain peaceful as they country prepare for the August 8 general election.
He said security has been beefed up across the county and urged locals to cooperate with the police as they keep law and order.
