Kiambu county government has been called upon to address the plight of county health workers to ensure residents acquire quality services from the public hospitals.
Speaking in an interview on Wednesday, Thika Level Five Hospital medical superintendent, Andrew Toro said Kiambu government should stop blaming the National government and solve the issue on its own.
Toro said that the hospital is overwhelmed by patients who need attention and they have been forced to multi-task with the available manpower in treating the people.
“We are really striving here with the nurses and the interns who have been assigned light duties. The government should solve this problem and confront the national government on their own without involving the people,” Toro said.
The Chief Nursing officer, Rosemary Mwangi told the press that she is saddened by the way the county government has handled the issue adding that she has been forced to work for many hours without rest.
“They are buying new equipment and initiating health projects but the doctors are not paid and they are the ones expected to use them. This issue should already have been resolved,” she said.
She was addressing journalist on Wednesday at the hospital.
