It has been revealed that the samples which were taken from the body of a Briton who died while under police custody at the Diani police station have never been analysed five years down the line. According to a witness, the samples extracted from the body of Alexander Monson were left at the Pandya Memorial Hospital mortuary and were never analysed. The witness, Gideo Rono, who is attached to the Tourist Department in Diani, said that the postmortem was conducted in his presence, adding that no more investigations were undertaken.Rono also told Senior Principal Magistrate Richard Odenyo that the examination was conducted in the presence of two pathologists -one representing the family and a second from the government, two mortuary attendants and two other officers. He also said that no one left with the samples, which had earlier on been sealed in a box.Rono further divulged that the samples were left under the custody of the mortuary attendant despite the gravity of the matter.“Monson’s ribs and scrotum had bruises during the examination. The pathologist said the bruises on the scrotum could be attributed to oral sex while those on the ribs were as a result of resuscitation efforts,” said Rono.Rono also said that Monson’s head had a blood clot on the right side, which could have been caused by a blunt object, The Star has reported. Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Mombasa County that you want Hivisasa to cover?
