Kisii county member of county assembly has challenged stakeholders to come up with measures which will help to curb fire incidents in schools which have affected education sector.

Speaking on Tuesday Tabaka ward MCA Daniel Apepo said that fire incidents in schools have affected the education sector.

This comes after Tabaka Boys was affected by the fire on Monday night increasing the number of schools affected by fire in the region.

Ombasa said that the fire incidents in schools are worrying as the national examinations beckons.

“I would like to condemn the fire incident which broke in Tabaka Boys  in my ward, I appeal to all stakeholders to come up with measures on how we can end this, we need to  set measures on how we can overcome this,” he said.

He also challenged the school management to have patrons in boy schools who can be guiding students.

“We have been having matrons in girls school who most of the time help to guide students unlike in boy schools, we would like to urge the management of schools to introduce patrons in our schools,” said Apepo.

He also challenged the schools to strengthen the guidance and counseling departments which will help to curb the menace.
