No wonder our art industry is struggling to stay afloat due to lack of adequate art materials.

Kenya has very few fine artists. If you attend the few art exhibitions, that are mostly organized in Nairobi, you will always see different artworks but from the same artists.

Rarely do we get to hear new names! Why are our youths and students in institutions of learning shunning art courses yet art is one of the most lucrative industries in countries such as United states where artists are paid millions of dollars for just one painting?

I think it's because our students are not being taught art and craft in our primary and secondary schools.

That is why the idea of re-introducing music, woodwork and art & craft in the new curriculum will revive our dying art industry.

Kenya institute of curriculum development, KICD should push for this.
