Nyamira County Women Representative, Alice Chae has urged Nyamira County residents to invest in girl child to help in the development of the county.
Speaking on Friday at a funeral at Kenyenya, West Mugirango Constituency, Chae said in the past years, only boys have been given first priority in education compared to girls, and that is why they have been shining more in the national examinations.
“Girls face challenges such as early marriages, and we should join hands with our leaders to ensure we solve the challenges,” she said.
West Mugirango Constituency Member of Parliament Dr. James Gesami also echoed Chae’s words by saying that they are working hard together with the local government to ensure that every child is sent to school to get basic education.
“Education is the only key to a bright future, that is why it is key to invest in education,” he said.
He also congratulated Nyamira County schools for recording good results and having no case of cheating reported in the KCSE examination that was released on Tuesday by education CS Jacob Kaimenyi.
Nyamira County’s top school was Nyambaria Boys with a mean score of 9.6, followed by Sironga girls with a mean score of 9.03.
