Locals in Rabai Constituency in Kilifi county have been urged to embrace small savings in Saccos so that they initiate and expand their small business.

In an annual general meeting organized by Talanta Voroni Savings Sacco based at  Rabai in Kilifi County, the local has been further challenged to embrace savings in Saccos and get loans so that they can initiate, manage and expand their businesses.

Addressing the 25 members of the Sacco who have so succeeded in saving and taking up small loans to nurture their businesses, Talanta Voroni Savings Sacco Matthew Keah said that such Saccos were the only way to engage in businesses and fight poverty in the community.

He said that Talanta Voroni Sacco has been working towards creating awareness to locals so that they register with the organization and ensure that they save small amount monthly and get loans to start businesses.

Keah said that since most of the locals did not understand on how they can save, and acquire loans then Talanta Voroni launched such community savings Sacco so that locals can associate with it and start saving money.

He said that it is through such small savings that some Member in Rabai Constituency have given their children higher education, started businesses and expanded them.

“We should not live to the old habit of traveling to Mombasa with bundles of palm broom, coconuts or vegetables and walk door to door selling them at cheaper prices, we should invest and expand them before we sell them on the wholesale basis” he added.

He said that women within Rabai constituency were hardworking but what they lacked was support and information on how they will save money in Saccos and expand their businesses.

“I don’t need to explain to you how our women are toiling day in day out selling brooms at between 10 to 20 shillings in Mombasa, we should help them get adequate information about Talanta Voroni savings Sacco so that they can sell the same products but in a better way and make more profits” he added.

He challenged the entire members in Talanta Voroni who include men and women to enlighten Rabai Community on how they can join the savings Sacco and invest in a small way but reap in a bigger way.
