Health Cabinet secretary Cleopa Mailu has said investigations have been launched to establish the source of food that was given to police officers who were admitted with cholera like symptoms.

This is after police officers were admitted at Sinai Hospital in Rongai after eating food from Multi Media university.

“Investigations have been launched to ascertain where the food served to the officers at Multimedia University was sourced from,” said Mailu.

The officers were staying at the university as part of a contingent deployed ahead of the Supreme Court ruling on election petition on Friday.

Several officers were rushed to hospital for medical attention after they complained of severe abdominal pains and diarrhoea.

Of the ailing officers, 47 are being treated at Sinai Hospital, 33 at Nairobi Women’s Hospital and 12 at the Kenyatta National Hospital.
