An investor is in trouble with locals of Nyawita after ‘privatizing’ what residents say is a public land that belongs to them.
The investor fenced the land cutting short the path the locals used, something that has angered them.
The locals have given the investor a 24 hours to pull down the fence or face trouble.
“I wonder how someone from nowhere comes and fences the road making it his own. How does he expect us to navigate about with the huge fence?” Raymond OK other posed.
The locals noted that the investor must have bought the land from one of their elders adding that the fence will be demolished if the investor does not comply.
“I think we were short-changed by an elder we hear has been claiming to own this community land. He has appeared in court twice following rogue land deals,” said Wilfred Odouri.
The investor on the other hand said the land belonged to him adding that he will take legal action if his property is destroyed.
“Kenyans are very ungrateful, the moment you help them with something they forget that it is not there and when you legally take it from them they view you as an enemy,” the investor named Samson Awino stated.
“My father was a generous man and because he didn’t use the land he let the locals use it as a short cut and now that I have found use in it they want to declare me an enemy. This is now a private property and no one is allowed to trespass,” he added.
