Mavoko Constituency MP Patrick Makau has disclosed that a foreign investor will support lighting project in towns and slums within the constituency to improve security and livelihoods of the residents.
Speaking to the press in Athi River town yesterday, Makau said that he had informed Machakos County government to support the project.
Makau said he had also talked and agreed with Governor Alfred Mutua that they would partner with the investor to ensure the project become a reality.
The MP added that the project was also intended to compliment the county government's efforts of lighting the county. Makau expressed his confidence in Mutua's development plans, claiming that those development plans, under the leadership of Governor Mutua would bring positive changes in Machakos as it was already seen in some parts of the county.
"I am very impressed with Governor Mutua's street lighting projects meant to improve the county's security alongside boosting its economic status," said Makau.
He called on the residents to support the initiative arguing that it would also improve their livelihoods as businesses would be operating longer hours as small and medium entreprises come up in the estates.
Makau told youths from the region to get ready to seek jobs which would be created during the project's implementation as the investor will need casuals for human resource.
